Mission
The Iowa City corridor — Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty plus the small towns at the edges (Tiffin, Solon, Oxford, Hills, Lone Tree, North Liberty's growing west side) — operates as a single community for the people who live here. School boundaries, hospital draw, commute patterns, real estate markets, and contractor service areas all blur the municipal lines.
CoralvilleHome.com exists to be the plain-English local guide for the people who live in that corridor or are thinking about moving here. We cover real estate (realtors, neighborhoods, the buying and selling process), home services (the contractors who keep corridor houses functioning through Iowa winters and hail seasons), schools and healthcare (because where you live in the corridor matters for both), and Iowa-specific homeownership knowledge that doesn't show up in national how-to articles (the abstract system, the MNLR, wind/hail deductibles, IFA programs).
What we cover
- Real estate — corridor realtor directory, neighborhood-by-neighborhood guides, buying and selling process, mortgage lenders, home inspectors, IFA first-time buyer programs.
- Home services — builders, roofers, basement waterproofers, HVAC, plumbers, electricians, kitchen and bath remodelers, and the smaller categories homeowners actually search for.
- Schools — Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD), Clear Creek Amana, University of Iowa, Kirkwood, and the private and parochial schools across the corridor.
- Healthcare — UIHC, Mercy Iowa City, the major primary and specialty practices, dentists.
- Insurance — Iowa homeowners insurance (the Iowa-specific deductible and roof-loss-settlement issues), flood insurance, hail claim processes, agent directory.
- Iowa-specific knowledge — permits and zoning across the three cities, Iowa basement code, contractor licensing, mechanic's lien law, winter home prep, the things you only learn after you've lived here through a few seasons.
Who runs the site
CoralvilleHome.com is published by a small editorial team focused on the Iowa City corridor and several sister sites. Editorial contact and operations go through Natasofia Vives at natasofvives@gmail.com.
We're not a real estate brokerage. We're not a law firm. We're not affiliated with any specific agency, builder, or contractor. We're an independent publisher producing local-knowledge content for an audience that needs it.
How we make money
The site is supported by three revenue streams, all clearly disclosed:
- Sponsored placements. Realtors, contractors, builders, and lenders can pay for featured placement in directories. Sponsored placements are visibly marked as featured (with a "Featured" tag) and never replace editorial coverage. Sponsorship doesn't buy a favorable review — only the placement.
- Display advertising. Standard programmatic display ads via Google AdSense or similar networks. Ads are clearly distinguishable from editorial content.
- Domain inquiries. CoralvilleHome.com is an exact-match domain for corridor real estate. Real estate firms occasionally inquire about acquisition; we entertain serious offers via the contact page.
What we don't do:
- Take undisclosed referral fees from listed contractors or realtors
- Sell exclusive category lockups (we'd never list only one roofer in a category)
- Write pay-to-play "reviews" that pretend to be editorial
- Use AI-generated reviews of businesses (all editorial cards reflect our knowledge of the corridor market)
Editorial process
Pages on CoralvilleHome.com are written and reviewed in a few categories:
- Directories (realtors, contractors, lenders, insurance agents) — we compile from public sources, MLS data where available, professional licensure databases, and corridor knowledge. We include firms we believe an informed corridor resident would consider for the category.
- Process guides (buying, selling, insurance, permits, code) — based on Iowa statutes, IRC adoption, IFA program documentation, and corridor practice. We cite primary sources where useful and flag uncertainty where regulations update.
- Neighborhood guides — based on direct knowledge of the corridor, MLS history, school boundary research, and the things you only know if you've walked the streets.
- Reference pages (FAQ, glossary) — synthesize what we've learned from the rest of the site.
Corrections welcome
If you find an error — a contractor we listed who's no longer in business, a program amount that's been updated, a fact that's flat wrong — email natasofvives@gmail.com with the page URL and the correction. We update materially and document significant changes.
If you're a corridor business and we've described you inaccurately, contact us. We'll review and adjust the editorial card.
Network of sister sites
CoralvilleHome.com is one of several independent local guides for the Iowa City corridor. All are published by the same team with the same commitment to plain-English local knowledge:
- coralvillelaw.com — Corridor lawyers and Iowa legal topics (divorce, OWI, estate, real estate disputes, immigration).
- northlibertylaw.com — North Liberty-focused legal guide.
- iowacitydmv.com — Iowa DOT, vehicle registration, license plates, driver's license processes.
- iowacitycouncil.com — Iowa City government, council coverage, public records.
- iowacitystorage.com — Storage unit directory for the corridor.
Editorial principles
- Local knowledge over generic content. Every page should tell you something a national how-to article wouldn't.
- Disclose advertising. Sponsored placements are visibly marked.
- No undisclosed conflicts. If we have a stake in something we recommend, we say so.
- Editorial separation from sponsorship. Paying for a placement doesn't buy a favorable review.
- Acknowledge uncertainty. Where program details, code editions, or rates may have changed since publication, we flag it.
- Recommend professional advice. For decisions of consequence — buying, building, suing, insuring — we direct readers to licensed Iowa professionals.
- Update regularly. Especially the directories and the rate/cost-related pages.
